Punteks Produces Different Types of Felt

Established to recycle wastes in 1995, Punteks converts these wastes to different types of felts and offers to the service of various sectors. These products, which are produced at the 12 thousand sqm-plants, are used in the bedding, furniture, automotive, construction and consumer durables sectors. The company exports half of its products to different countries. Mr. Gurkan Kanli, CEO of Punteks, says that their priority is what the sector needs and expects in this field and underlines that this approach leads them to develop new products. Mr. Kanli answered the questions of Sleep Tech about their operations:

Could you brief us about yourself?

I graduated from ODTÜ in 1985 from Mechanical Engineering. I was working in private sector before we established our own company “Punteks”.

Could you furnish us with general information about Punteks?

Punteks was established in 1995 for sorting and recycling textile wastes. We have a total capacity of 1500 tons of textile waste sorting and processing. We have been sorting and exporting textile wastes all over the world. Then in 2006, we invested in a thermo-bond nonwoven production line that employs the latest technology and is able to produce felt between 500 g/m2 to 3000 g/ m2. These felts can be used in furniture, automotive, construction and household appliances sectors. Our factory is established on a 30,000m² land with a 12,000m² closed factory area. We are exporting more than 50% of our production.

Punteks also has two group companies that are established in Uşak. Prosen Dış Ticaret is producing geotextile felt and Plato Elyaf is producing shoddy that can be used in automotive sector for felt production and in yarn sector for producing open-end yarns. We have been always deeply concerned with needs and expectations of our sector and customers. This understanding paved us new ways and products.

Could you brief us about your Special Production? What are your criteria about Special Production?

For the felts:

Hard Felt, Medium Hard Felt, Soft Felt: These felts are used on the springs in order to decrease the hard feeling of the spring and expand the pressure on whole mattress. Cottonflex: This felt has two different sides. One side is hard the other side is soft. It is beneficial for the producers who use both hard felt and soft felt together.

Blue Felt: This product consist mostly cotton and it is used in order to give volume to the mattress. For shoddy; we have two main kinds: firstly there are different blends for automotive sector’s felt production and also there are blends for the shoddy that is used in yarn sector for producing open end yarns. Shoddy is produced according to customers’ requirements.

Can you inform us about your foreign trade; exports and imports?

We are both purchasing from local market and importing from different countries from time to time according to sufficiency of the goods.

We are trying to be a global partner for our customers; therefore you can see our felts in many countries and in different continents. We are continuously trying to expand our market. We have a plan to make second production line investment within 2015. Our motto is to be a partner of our customers and to cooperate always.
