Özdemir Group: We have all the materials needed by mattress manufacturers

Özdemir Group Sales & Marketing Specialist Şeref Özdemir said that they export to 72 countries and that they accelerate their innovation studies in order to expand their export portfolio.

Stating that they have every material needed by mattress and base manufacturers and that they continuously make improvements in their products, Şeref Özdemir said that they accelerated their innovation and R&D studies. Stating that the mattress components industry is a constantly developing and growing sector, Özdemir stated that they believe that the stakeholders of the sector are also constantly working on innovation and contributing to the development of the sector. Speaking about the fairs, Şeref Özdemir said that they are permanent participants of Intermob Istanbul and IBIA Expo in Turkiye and Automechanica Frankfurt fairs abroad. Özdemir stated that they are especially looking forward to the IBIA exhibition and emphasized that the IBIA Association is constantly improving the exhibition.

Could you tell us about your current product range and the innovations you have made in these products?

As Özdemir Group, we have gathered all the products needed by mattress, sofa and box spring manufacturers under one roof to offer them to our customers and indirectly enabled customers to buy the products they need in one place. In 2023, we improved our product range by adding the latest system bonnel transfer machines and bag spring production machine to our production under the Özyay brand. R&D and innovation studies of other brands within Özdemir Group are still continuing.

Could you tell us about your current export volume and your targets for the coming period?

We currently export to 72 countries. In addition, we aim to reach our potential customers in other countries of the world that we have not exported to before and do not have information about our company, both through international fairs and point-to-point travels.

In 2024, can you tell us about the fairs in which you have participated and will participate as an exhibitor at home and abroad?

We take part in Intermob Istanbul and IBIA Expo fairs at home and Automechanica Frankfurt fair abroad. Apart from these, we go to January Furniture Show in England and iSaloni Milano in Italy as a visitor in order to keep the pulse of the sector and meet with our suppliers and potential customers.

Could you evaluate the current situation of the Turkish bed components industry? What do you think are the main problems of the industry and what needs to be done?

The current situation of the Turkish mattress components industry is getting better every day. Our industry stakeholders, like us, are developing their R&D departments and enabling mattress manufacturers to make top class mattresses. We are in a position to have a say in the world market on the basis of both mattress components and final products. But unfortunately, we have difficulties in price competition due to labor and logistics costs.

Can we get your predictions and general evaluations regarding the IBIA EXPO exhibition to be organised in September?

We are looking forward to the IBIA Expo, which will be held for the third time in September, and we are excitedly waiting for the fair to be organized. The IBIA Association is improving every year and making improvements in the exhibition. There is a demand for the fair both from home and abroad. We hope that we will have a busy and productive fair this year as well, and as sector stakeholders, we will provide a large amount of foreign currency inflow to our country
