We interviewed Feridun Tosun, Sales & Marketing Manager of Nova Sünger ve Yatak A.Ş., who provided valuable insights into the company’s production strength, innovative strategies, and ambitious future goals.
Wide product range and global market
Your product portfolio includes products as diverse as steel wire, springs, and sponges. What is the strategy behind this wide range of products? Can you give information about the production processes and target markets of these products that appeal to different sectors?
“Nova Sünger ve Yatak A.Ş. completes horizontal integration with its polyurethane products, industrial wires, spring mattress wire, mattress spring and construction, fiber products, and R&D departments, offering the basic products and semi-products needed by the industry to the world market with the highest service standards. We have become the choice of many different sectors with our product range that appeals to the bedding and furniture industry. We offer our products to our customers in many different geographies of the world, especially in Europe. As Nova, we export to over 80 different countries.”
Production capacity and quality standards
You have an annual production capacity of 70,000 tons of steel wire and springs. Which sectors do you serve with this capacity and what quality standards do you apply in your production processes?
“Nova Sünger, which produces over 70 thousand tons of steel wire and springs annually, is the main supplier of leading companies operating in various countries of the world, mainly producing mattress springs. All our efforts are to provide our customers, employees, and business partners with the highest quality product offerings. For this purpose, we improve our product and service quality with our constantly developing company structure and the latest production-quality control technologies. Protecting the environment and human health, using our resources effectively, reducing the costs of our customers, and teamwork are other elements that complement our quality policy.”
Technology and sustainability
You state that you use the latest technologies in sponge production. What are these technologies and how do they contribute to the quality of your products? Also, what kind of practices do you have in terms of sustainability and environmentally friendly production?
“Using the latest technology in the sector, Nova Sünger provides services to many different sectors such as mattress, furniture, automotive, insulation, textile, and footwear. With our sustainability policy, we act with the understanding of meeting our own needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. By adopting environmentally friendly approaches in our production processes, we optimize the use of natural resources and apply sustainable production principles.”
R&D and innovative product development
Can you tell us about your R&D activities? How do your new product development processes progress and how do you adapt to innovations in the sector?
“Sustainability and high customer satisfaction are our main priorities. As a result of the outstanding work of our R&D department in line with customer needs in the sector, we produce and develop state-of-the-art technological products that will meet the needs of our customers. Thanks to the studies carried out in the laboratory environment in our R&D department, we are constantly developing new products and quickly adapting to innovations in the sector.”
Pandemic period and new strategies
The pandemic affected your industry as it did many others. What challenges did you face during this period and how did you find solutions? Also, what kind of strategy do you plan to follow in the post-pandemic period?
“Although the initial period of the pandemic negatively affected the sector, it contributed positively to our sector over time. Consumers who could not go out started to invest more in their homes. Especially the acceleration of the replacement process of mattresses and furniture caused households to allocate most of their income to this area, and our sector was positively affected. As Nova, we realized more than 100% growth in the relevant period. The reshaping of consumer spending after the pandemic was a factor that challenged the sector. However, thanks to the expansion strategy we implemented in the new normal period, we increased our sales network to different countries, minimized the impact of the contraction in the market, and gained a permanent place in the sector.”
Future goals and strategic growth plans
What are your future goals and projects? In which areas do you plan to grow in the coming years and what position do you aim to achieve in the sector?
“We have set a 40% growth target for the year 2025 and we have determined this year as the year of machine investment. We have already set our targets for the years 2026 and 2027. In the first two months of the year, we realized significant sales in line with our targets. Especially in response to the contraction in the European market, we are implementing an expansion strategy in different geographies. We believe we will reach our 2025 targets, and we will continue our investments to further consolidate our leading position in the sector.”
