Serkan Kır, the company official of Nano Springs, highlights NANO SPRINGS as a trade mark to be well known and one of most important suppliers for the mattress and sofa industry in the world.
Nano Springs is an exporter company 90% working to export and 10% for domestic market. Their main export markets are United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, France, Bulgaria, Romania and The Netherlands. They increase their production area to 8,000 m2 closed area with their 2nd factory. The production capacity will be increased 50% with new investments completed in December, 2020. Serkan Kır, the company official, quotes their new investments and expectations in near future.
What would you say about the spring technologies and its evolution?
The introduction of coil spring bedding in the early 20th century was perhaps the mattress industry’s most significant leap forward in technology. Based in part on the coil system used in building carriages, these early innerspring mattresses used a series of steel coils covered with wool, natural fibers or soft fabric for padding. Innerspring technology started with Bonnell Units which is coils tied up each other with helical wire and moving as whole units. Early 1990’s Pocket Springs were introduced to the industry. Pocket springs offered unrivalled support compared to the continuous coil mattresses of the time, in which the rows of coils were formed from a single piece of wire. This is because the individually wrapped springs were able to tailor to changing posture and the contours of the body without causing the whole mattress to respond and disrupt sleeping partners. Early 2000’s tiny pocket springs we call “Tablet pocket springs” technology was introduced to the industry. This is the latest innovative spring product in the mattress industry. This tiny pocket springs increase the mattress comfort by 40%.
We, as Nano Springs, have always made it our principle to invest in new technologies. We have been offering various types of Bonnell Springs, Pocket Springs and Tablet Pocket Springs to our customers.
Nano Springs manufactures micro pocket springs. What are the features and differences that distinguish micro springs from other pocket springs?
Tablet Pocket Springs are identified as a unique filling and support layer, offering unrivalled comfort compared to other materials. Combined with traditional pocket springs which increase spring count and develop many different types of comfortable and luxury mattresses. They are more flexible, more hygienic and increase comfort up to 40%.
Do you manage any new investment or branding works in your company?
We are increasing our production area to 8,000 m2 closed area with our 2nd factory as well as production capacity will be increased 50% with our new investments in December 2020. However, we will continue on our way with sound steps by increasing our market share in 2021.
Shall we see any new innovative products from NANO SPRINGS in 2021?
We always aim to improve new products to the favor of the industry. Our R&D department has been continuously working for innovation. New innovative products will be launched in 2021.
How were your domestic and international sales affected from Covid-19?
In March 2020, pandemic spread all over Europe and Turkey which effected our business badly for 2 months. This situation was new for all world population. However, we changed our life and work style as we were not used to. But, we never lost hopes about future. After Europe’s lock-down, business started again from where we left off. Demand highly increased and still continue currently which encouraged us to make new investments even under COVID-19 situation. Hopefully Covid-19 will be over soon all over the world and we can be closer to each other again.
Covid-19 constituted a huge impediment for exhibitions; Have you been looking forward to them? What exhibitions are you planning to be a part of?
Personally, I always like to participate in fair organizations in my business life. Through fair organizations world sector players come together and share their experiences, innovations and make communications easier. We applied to exhibit at INTERZUM 2021 in May. Hopefully Covid-19 will be over by then and we can enjoy the show with our customers at Interzum 2021.
You work for foreign and domestic markets. What is the rate in this? To which countries do you mainly ship your products in foreign markets?

Where do you see the future of your company and the mattress industry and what should the industry do for a rising momentum?
Our aim is to be one of the market leading companies in the future. In our short history, we have proven quality of products and services to our customers. We have always invested in latest technological machinery and innovations. Nano Springs as trade mark will be well known and one of the most important suppliers for the mattress and sofa industry in the world.
Mattress industry is growing year by year depending on increasing of the world population. Even today significant number of people don’t sleep on mattresses. If we look at from this perspective demand will increase continuously in line with people’s wealthiness. So, the mattress sector has to be ready for future demand increase with their capacities.
Could you share your opinion about the world and the position of the mattress industry after Covid-19?
After pandemic is over, the people expectations will be different. I believe demand will increase for hygienic products. Innersprings products will become more important than other materials in the mattress industry.
