EMR produces value added zippers for bedding industry

Starting its business life with producing zippers in 1994 EMR Zipper Company has developed very special zippers and have become the leading company in this business with new innovative products.

Mr. Omer Ozpehlivan, chairman of the board of EMR, said that they have always been in an efoort to develop and improve their products through R&D studies. He furnished us about their operations in detail:

How do you serve the bedding industry since your foundation?

Our company is in an effort for adding value and improving customers’ products by using R&D activities, since its foundation. For this purpose, our antibacterial zipper that was specifically developed for bedding sector is getting great interest from this industry. In addition, zippers we produce are specially designed for our customers that are located in home textile and bedding industry. As a result of our last invests, we have already started to present our customers some new products that are used in this field as nar – row-fabrics, Velcro, tape, elastics etc. Please inform us about your production facilities. Currently as EMR Zipper company, we are producing zippers and accessories in our covered build – ing that has around 10.000 m2 production facility in Istanbul. Also our new investment that has 8.500 m2-covered areas estab – lished at the beginning of this year and has been in operation in Malatya right now. In this new building that is inside of the Anatolian part of Turkey will help us to reach bed producers, we are going to produce mainly Velcro and narrow-fabric products that are generally interested by bedding industry.

Can you give us details of your zippers and handles? What kinds of innovations have you realized?

All zippers and other products of EMR Company have been certi – fied by well-known national and international quality certification companies. As a pioneering com – pany in zipper industry, we have focused on innovation investment and produced fire-resistant, waterproof and anti-bacterial zippers that have gotten great interest of bedding industry. Also our design department that is using 3D techniques are able to develop special products in accordance with the demands of our customers. Decorative feature of our products, our colour chard that has 750 different colours and superior strength of our products are the most important parts of our company.

What is the function of zippers on a mattress? What kinds of practicalities do they offer?

Undoubtedly zipper is one of the most important inventions that make our lives easier. In terms of the bedding industry, we see that it provides ease of use and practicality to bedding products. However, it is so important to have strength and flexibility when the zipper is used for bedding products. And this is the system that can only be reachable by using special techniques and technologies.Our fire-resistant, waterproof and anti-bacterial zippers are combining the quality by providing integrity of bed products.

How often the Turkish manufacturers use zipper in their mattresses?

Zipper, in terms of ease of use is a product commonly used in bed. Especially developing technological infrastructure in recent years made these two products closer to each other. Also it is very important to use the right zipper in the accurate home textile product. What difficulties do you face in your sector?

One of the main problems of our industry is the manufacturers that are working illegal. Also as EMR Company that is respecting to human, nature and environment while choosing raw materials, unfortunately we can’t see the same altitude in all parts of our sector. While we are aiming our products not to include carcinogenic substances, not damaging nature and ability of using easily by consumers, unfortunately because of the less inspection applications by officials raising disadvantage to us. In addition, the declining of human resource of the sector and not raising new staffs in this field is a harbinger of the future shortages of zipper industry.

Which countries or regions do you export?

Our company is realizing its sales mostly in form of direct or indirect export. We are very pleased for the interest of our foreign customers. Moreover, the majority of our domestic customers export their products mainly to Europe and the USA. While we are focusing our geography first, we are expanding our sales network day by day. Today, EMR is considered as a quality brand itself in neighbouring countries.

What kind of quality policy do you utilize for your products and services?

Our products are manufactured in terms of TSE, Oeko-tex and ISO 9000 quality certificates.Acting on the basis of customer satisfaction, our company continues its entire investment in this perspective. The quality control department that are checking our products before sending to customers are fulfilling an important role in this sense. Additionally, our machines that are using latest technological systems enabling us to produce the newest model zippers with the fastest way.

What kinds of R&D studies do you conduct for new product developments?

Our R&D activities have been going on a sectorial basis, unlike other areas. For example, when we consider the bedding industry, we identify the zipper expectations of the sector in a coordinated manner and then realizing it. Also, because of the fact that zipper is a product that combined by different raw materials, we can channelize the innovations to very different products of us at the same time. In this sense, smart textile systems are an important part of our future vision. Our efforts in the framework of a common mind with our customers will continue for the home textile and bedding sector. We believe that our investments will strengthen this sector and our union will increase for the future.
