Ekici Makine helps investors start the sector with economic machinery

Started its activity in 2001 Ekici Makine supplies machinery for many products including bed base, sofa, armchair, foam, etc. Pointing out that they had been in an effort to manufacture products related to the sector Murat Akici said they determined that the sector needs machinery most and they started to fill this gap. He underlined that they supply economical machinery for those investors who decide to start this sector and added that they pay attention to increase the value of their image by placing extra importance on quality. He answered the questions of Sleep Tech about their success story:

Could you brief us about the history of Ekici Makina?

Getting apart from Poli in 2001 our company started activity as a partnership with a different name. We manufactured various kinds of machinery notably for the textile industry for 6 years. We terminated the partnership in 2009 and established a new company with the name of Ekici Maine. The activity fields of this company are to supply products such as bed base, sofa, armchair, foam, etc. for the mattress industry. Our bedding product portfolio includes: mattress tape edge machines, mattress border machines, speciar machines, quilting machines, roll fabric cutting machines, fusing cutting machines, spring machines, spring quality control machines, spring clip machines, spring pugging machines, and spring crushing machines.

To produce these machines we need to buy the following items: electronic CNC control units and motors, electric materials, bearing groups, steel materials, bolt screw groups, sheet metal and platins, brass and bronze materials, pipes and metal profiles.

We buy all of these from domestic market but we are dependent on foreign market for electronic materials.

How do you handle your research & development studies? How does your R&D team develop products?

We have already finished the R&D studies and started manufacturing some products such as double-headed CNC quilting machine, elastic colon panning machine, nail pounding machine and automatic mattress tape edge machine. We target to develop different product portfolio by adding specier machine on mattress border machines.

What about your exports?

We sell 70% of our production in domestic market and export the balance 30%. We mainly export to MENA (Middle East and North Africa), Iran, Iraq, Jordan and Syria. We also ship to Azerbaijan in the CIS countries and Romania in Balkans.

What are your targets for 2014?

We will accelerate second hand machine trade in the textile and spring machine groups to help new investors to start the business with more economical machinery.
