Durak Tekstil; “We have a strong claim in the US market”

Durak Tekstil Board Member Yiğit Durak spoke to our magazine before ISPA EXPO 2022 Fair. Yiğit Durak, who conveyed his expectations and predictions about the fair in his interview, drew attention to the importance of fairs.

While talking about the contribution of ISPA EXPO 2022 to the mattress components sector,

Durak Tekstil Board Member,  saying “While the main criteria for the mattress industry are comfortable sleep and sleep comfort, now sleep health or healthy sleep comes to the fore. Beside this, the role of sleep for a sustainable daily life and business life is discussed again. In short, while a completely new standard of ‘normal’ is being formed, bedrooms are also affected by this and are no longer spaces isolated from daily life. Therefore, ISPA will be a platform where both innovative products in the mattress industry and new concepts in connection with these products are presented” added “ISPA EXPO 2022, which will be held in Orlando, Florida between 8-10 March 2022, has a great importance for the mattress industry. We can see the first signs of a new vision for the mattress industry at this fair, especially if it is evaluated that there are intense closures and the time spent in bed is prolonged during the pandemic period. Recent studies show that the global sleep industry will grow at an annual rate of 6.11% in the between 2020-2026 period. In another study, it is estimated that the global home bedding market (beddings, mattresses, bed linens, pillows and blankets) will have a value of approximately 74 billion dollars in 2020, and will reach a value of 147 billion dollars in 2028 with an annual growth of 9%.”

Yiğit Durak, at his speech, briefly talked about the product promotion that Durak Tekstil will make at the fair and its expectations from the fair and said  “At ISPA EXPO 2022, we will take place at our stand 718 with our sewing threads used in the mattress industry. Among these products, especially our aramid sewing threads, which have been made compulsory to be used in the bedding industry in the USA, will come to the fore. Our Durak Fire Safe Para Aramid® sewing threads which can withstand temperatures up to 500 °C are being used for edge covering of mattresses. While increasing the fire and heat resistance with its superior performances, it does not compromise on the comfort of use. Therefore, the use of our aramid yarns is constantly increasing in many areas, especially in homes and commercial accommodation areas. We will also exhibit our Durak Duraless® and Durak Duma® lower yarns for classical sewing at the fair. These yarns, minimizing problems such as contamination and dust accumulation in sewing machines with their endless polyester fiber structure, also succeed in increasing productivity to a great extent. At ISPA EXPO 2022, we are getting ready to meet the US market again with our very rich portfolio of sewing and embroidery threads.”

Mr. Yiğit, who also discussed the development graph of the mattress components sector in recent years, continued his words as follows: “There is no Customs Union agreement between the USA and Turkey, as there is with the EU, so the advantages gained by countries such as Israel and Egypt when entering this market are unfortunately not available to Turkish manufacturers. However, we can say that Turkish brands have made a significant progress in the US and South American markets with our quality products and strong service. Sales firstly made with dealerships are now carried out by the companies’ own warehouses, offices and services. As a company exporting to more than 75 countries, Durak Tekstil has a strong claim in the US market, especially with its technical products. Our sales volume for this market and the number of our customers are increasing every year.”

Durak, in his statement on the negative impact of the pandemic on the business world and the canceled fairs, ended his words with the following sentences; “Fairs are very important in terms of establishing strong ties with the global market, revitalizing the communication networks within the industry and making new market opportunities from the synergy formed here. We consider it valuable to be together with customers at the fair, not only in terms of introducing new products and services, but also in order to give confidence. Turkish textile manufacturers are among the most important participants of global fairs and they make the phrase ‘Made in Türkiye” visible on their labels. We believe that the state supports provided to the fair participation will provide more exports and more added values. The successful sales and businesses of the companies participating in the fairs justify this prediction.”
