Depar Leather exports to 65 countries

Having a capacity to produce 10 million sqm, Depar develops new products in two different labs.

One of the largest suppliers of leather for mattress base manufacturers Depar Leather has been producing leather and faux leather products since 1981 in its factory of 60 thousand sqm. Foreign trade direct director Adnan Yenipazarli said that flame retardant products are the most preferred by buyers. He informed about his company and activities in export markets in Europe and in the Middle East.

What is the story of your company?When was it founded?

The company was founded in 1981 to produce PBS coated fabrics. In 1990 we introduced special products to Turkish market we produced in Turkey, and became a popular company in both domestic and export markets from then on. Our products addresses mainly to the manufacturers of upholstery products used at home, automotive, yacht, hotel, footwear, bookbinding and other industries. Pbs and Poletan Pbs products are mostly used in the bases of mattresses, that are sold to contract businesses. They mostly prefer flame resistant kinds of the products. They use them in their decorative products as well as functional ones. We are the only company in this category.

 What do you have to say about your production facilities and capacities?

Our capacity is about 10 million sqm annually. We have six lines for faux leather production and two lines for flocks in the factory of 60 thousand sqm, where about 250 to 400 workers are employed depending on the seasonal demand.

 On exports?

We export to 65 countries; in 30 of them we have regular buyers. We export mostly to European countries besides other markets in the middle east and in the golf. 35 to 40 percent of our production are sold to export markets.

What is your opinion about recent developments?

A crisis is felt in the world. We cannot attribute this only to one industry. All sectors have been affected. Faux leather needed because supply of genuine leather is not met the growing demand, so we still be in the needed for faux leather in the future as well. However, you have to develop new products and new techniques to meet growing demand with variety of products.

What do you do in the field of fauxleather research and development?

We have two separate research laboratories equipped with required equipment. We carry out flame tests in our labs. Other parameters are also tested including, tensile, ductility, elongation tests.
