Demas; “Our exports to US market will increase more in the coming years”

Demas, provides machinery production and technical service to the textile industry by starting its activities in 2012 as a result of 45 years of experience and knowledge in the production of textile machinery, will participate in the ISPA EXPO 2022 Fair, which is planned to be held in the USA in order to enter into operation in the USA market and take its success in the sector one step further.

Demas General Manager Enes Haşıloğlu, speaking to our magazine before the fair, expressed the effects of the resumption of the fairs, which were interrupted due to the pandemic, on the sector, the returns of the US market for Turkish companies and their expectations from ISPA EXPO 2022. Underlining the issue of the pandemic, Haşıloğlu said “An important fair of the sector, of course, will attract visitors. Considering the effects of the pandemic, of course we can’t expect much this year. However, as the sector started to recover, it increases the participation of companies that want to evaluate the fairs held. Thus, I see this fair as positive in the long run.”

Demas General Manager, who also stated that they are stranger to the US market as a company; said “Our company produces machines that the textile industry needs, such as quality control and roll winding, folding, docking and packaging, and exports them all over the world. Of course, every businessman attends every fair to make business connections, to promote his company in that market and to present his products. Our expectation is to provide new business connections in this fair as well. The US market is a market that we have not entered much at the moment, but we have taken into the custody market. As a matter of fact, we attach importance to the fairs held here.”

Haşıloğlu, also stated that Turkey’s export potential to the USA will increase as sector, said “In fact, the American market was not a market that we gave much importance to as companies producing textile machinery until recently. We were mostly exporting to Central Asia, Africa, Far East countries and Europe. We had occasional shipments in South America. But, due to the domestic policies of the USA, the tax on the machines and the fact that the manufacturers there were more conservative and wanted to manage with old machines prevented very serious sales. However, we had the opportunity to talk about our new machines and technologies one-on-one with customers at such fairs. When they heard that there were our more environmentally friendly, innovative and more efficient machines, the interest of our customers started to increase. And the advantage of Turkish manufacturers over other country manufacturers is that they can make option groups outside the standard. Since this answers the purpose of customer at the maximum level, we have become highly preferred. As a result, I think that our exports to the US market will increase even more in the coming years. It is because the market figures are at a level that will satisfy our domestic manufacturers for now.”

Talking about the fairs canceled due to the pandemic, Enes Haşıloğlu drew attention to the production-consumption balance. Haşıloğlu who declared that the restrictions should be loosened and the fairs should continue added “Fairs make great opportunities for manufacturing companies like us. Just as a tomato producer has to bring the product he produces in his garden to the market to sell, our market is fairs. Until the pandemic started, we were attending fairs in at least 10 countries within a year. And this inevitably increased the number of machines we exported. However, the cancellations and flight bans, quarantine and vaccination requirements that started with the pandemic, caused everyone around the world to stand still. As a result, business decreased accordingly. I think that the fairs aren’t cancelled thanks to the taken measures will offer necessary easiness for only the representatives of the companies that will participate in the fair and the people who will visit that fair. Because no matter what happens, life goes on, people continue to consume, so production has to continue. Otherwise, I think that there will be a famine almost coming slowly and that will be effective all over the world, and all humanity will be in a very difficult situation.”
