Waregem — BekaertDeslee acquires Maxime Knitting to become the leading mattress fabric supplier in North America. The strong complementarity of both companies and the combination of their respective positions in the market will accelerate BekaertDeslee’s growth ambitions in the region.
With the North American mattress market already being the largest in the world, it is expected that the bedding industry to continue growing, mainly driven by the rise of sleep awareness, an accelerated development of bed-in-a-box offerings and a shortening of the replacement cycle of mattresses. Therefore, North America is a key driver in BekaertDeslee’s growth strategy.
The addition of the Canadian based Maxime Knitting to the BekaertDeslee group will accelerate this growth ambition leveraging the complementarity of both companies. The combination will make a North American market leader providing a wide range of products with unique designs to a diversified customer base.
Maxime Knitting will operate as a separate Business Unit within the BekaertDeslee North American organization and will continue to be led by Maxime Theriault, previously owner and President. The main objective remains more than ever to offer a seamless service, from “yarns to covers”, from the production units in Mexico, US, and Canada, to the customer base all across North America and beyond.
“We are very pleased to join forces with Maxime Knitting”, says Frederic Beucher, CEO BekaertDeslee. “They are the undisputed market leader in Canada in knitted mattress fabrics with recognized capacity for design and innovation.” “With Maxime Knitting, we are strongly reinforcing our production capacity, addressing the recent demand trend”, adds Rafael Rodriguez, President and General Manager BekaertDeslee North America. “We will be able to better serve our existing customers while further growing the attractive customer portfolio of Maxime Knitting.”
