Air Flow for better sleep

Active in furniture industry for 35 years Iskecele Steel Springs company was established in 2002 to produce bonel springs, pocket springs and spring carcasses to serve in the furniture and mattress
manufacturers. Member of theboard Alper Ocak, factory manager Ersen Kilic and foreign trade manager Serkan Kır talked to our publication about the company and their projects.

Who is Iskeceli Company?
The company started as a coach and armchair producer in 1984. By growing up to 1990 the company only sold products by 2011 when it started to produce spring and spring systems for mattress producers. Last year was a starting point for our company and we realized a fast
growth and sold 6 million pounds of products in exports. We also invested in our machine
inventory.

How important is the spring for mattress manufacturers?
Metal spring is healthier than other chemicals, sponges and textiles used in the manufacturing of mattresses. Europeans are keen on health issues. Our efforts are driven by our aim to provide healthier sleep in terms of both physically and neurologically. Both body and the mind should go into sleep. We are successful in this regard. We develop our products in this direction. Our products are not generally demanded in domestic market. We export our goods to the number one producers in Europe. Spring is important in the mattresses because no other material can support the body suitably. It is the most comfortable material for better sleep, thanks to its ventilation and flexible structure.

What is the difference between spring and sponge mattresses?
Sponge is a chemical material, a kind of plastic blend. It prevents ventilation seriously both the body and the bed and causes perspiration summer and winter. Moisture feed and engulf bacteria inside. So it is not healthier.

What are your sources, do you import materials, from where?
Pocket Spring is used everywhere in the world. We mostly use them. Steel springs are made of iron and they are more bouncing. We buy steel from the leading producer Arcelor Mittal and we reduce the diameter of steel by 1 mm. at the factory.

How do you develop new products and R&D activities?
We are one of the companies that developed the most patented products during the last decade even in the world.  We lead the market. We search ways to reduce the costs, the speed, and the quality of production. We also try to find new ways for differentiation and to produce additional value in our products.

What countries do you export?
England is our major market. It demands more of the new products, and demand is growing. 80 percent goes there. For standard products Italy, Japan, Turkic republics, Brasilia, the Balkans, Algeria and Iran are other markets.

Some figures about your production, export and sales?
We sell about 95 percent of our production in abroad. We are basically an export firm. Last year we exported 6 million pounts sterling worth of goods. We target a 30 percent growth this year.

Some information about your new investments?
Air Flow is one of our new products. Our motto for this product is “progressive support”. It provides different tenses to different body weights. It provides the same comfort to both
people of 50 kg or 110 kg. The air tunnels for ventilation make this happen. Also the bed formed
accordingly at the beginning, and this reduces the time to go to sleep and provides better comfort.
One can sleep on these beds as if flying on the air. We call another new product, the Magic Spring, we applied it in the beds for babies. After development it will be used for other sizes. We are sure that it will be highly preferred.

Any additional point do you want to mention?
We will be exhibiting our new and patented products in our stand at Interzum fair starting on 13 May. We keep developing new products and keep growing to satisfy our customers.
