Founded by Cicek Bros, Asya Knitting has been serving to mattress manufacturers by producing fabrics since 2009. The company started to export in 2011.
They attain their success to their expertise in fabric business and the trust they established about their quality. Brothers introduced their business and their company.
On short history of the company
Originally we established the company in 2001 to produce fabrics for textile industry. In 2007 we produced fabrics for beds. We are one of the first three companies that only produce fabrics for mattresses.
On the specs of fabrics
We produce only jacquard knitted fabrics on the orders of our customers. Some of the patterns are generic and sold to every buyer. By using different yarns and knitting them differently, specs of fabrics have been adjusted to the needs of the buyer. There are anti-stress fabrics as well as slimming fabrics. We have thousands of variety.
On anti-stress and slimming fabrics
Slimming fabrics is made of a chemical finishing process. No harm for the human body and can be applied on all kinds of fabrics. However, it is not demanded by domestic customers because people in Turkey is covering their beds with additional linens. People may sleep direct on our fabrics. They have to be changeable and washable.
On production volume
All products are produced in our factory of 2,400 sqm. located in Istanbul, where 35 people work. They operate 15 looms, all made in Japan, in the factory. We can produce 8 to 10 thousand meters of fabrics daily in this facility. Finishing works are done in another plant. Yarn is our major input. We use different yarns in the production. Polyester is the major raw material for the yarns we use. We procure them from Corteks, the single supplier in Turkey. Sometimes we import it from China, Indonesia and Vietnam.
On exports
About 40 percent of our production is sold in export markets, such as Holland, Germany, England in the Europe, Libya and Lebanon in Africa and in the Middle East, as well as Ozbekistan and Turkmenistan in Asia.
On general outlook of mattress industry
The industry has overcome several great crisis in the past however, it kept its growth for years, because the bed is a basic need of the population. Buyer behavior of mattress customers has changed. Earlier it has been seen as a gift item. Now they can pay more for their own needs to get the best product. There are some problems in the industry. Recruiting qualified workers that work on shifts is hard to find in these days. Costs are high.
The first half of 2014 seems to be in recession. Later on that may be more dynamic. Trust is our major advantage over competitors. We sell our products on cash.
What distinguishes our company is that we respond faster to orders of our customers than others. We can find solutions in emergency. Our customer can put their orders for 3 thousand meters of fabrics on phone, and we immediately start production. We invest continuously to be ahead. Last year we grew 30 percent.
On Sleepwell Fair
Sleepwell fair organized by Ihlas Fair Services Company with the support of Ihlas Magazine group is a good opportunity for the mattress industry. The sector has been in the shadow of other products in furniture fairs. This fair will attract great interest, we believe.
