Mitsan; “We know the US market, we recognize its potential”

Mustafa Çetinbulut, CEO of Mitsan Sünger, one of the leading companies in the sponge market, which is an important component of the mattress sector, conveyed his predictions and expectations, in the interview with Sleeptech magazine, regarding the ISPA EXPO 2022 Fair, which is planned to be held on March 08-10.

Mustafa Çetinbulut, mentioning the political tension environment and anti-dumping duties between China and the USA, made predictions about the effects of ISPA EXPO 2022 on the mattress supplier industry. Çetinbulut, at his statement, said “Since the beginning of the pandemic, there has been a serious interest in Turkey from America as well as from all other countries. Just after the high anti-dumping duties on mattress imports from China to America, a meaningful demand came to the Turkish mattress sector between 2019 and 2020. Unfortunately, the anti-dumping duties done in Turkey in 2021 upset the mattress

manufacturers, but it had a positive impact on the mattress sub-industry and technologies. It is because the American government’s encouragement of mattress production within the country led American investors to invest in machinery and later on to the need for raw materials. I predict that this demand will continue to increase in the short and long term. For all these reasons, I think that the positive course of the fair for Turkish companies will make it even more positive.”

Mr. Mustafa stating that the USA is the first priority market for Mitsan expressed that they have participated in ISPA since 2016 as a company and that they know the potential of the USA market; therefore they expect the fair to increase their ongoing export capacity exponentially.

Mitsan CEO Çetinbulut, who also predicts how much the ISPA EXPO 2022 Fair will affect the export capacity of the mattress industry, said “Apart from the companies currently importing from Turkey, export figures will accelerate with companies coming from Central and South America because exporters who have already understood the demands of the American market are better prepared to increase their market shares.”

Mustafa Çetinbulut mentioning the fairs that were canceled due to the pandemic, made the following statements in his statement on the subject; “Although the contribution of fairs to companies in terms of international trade is indisputable, as you mentioned in the previous question, Turkey broke an export record in the last two years. In other words, it happened at a time when fairs could not be organized, so if the balance turns in favor of Turkey, buyers can find you and buy goods even if the fair does not have company visits. If the important leg of the promotion were fairs, maybe this momentum could accelerate even more, and Turkey’s real potential could be revealed more.”
