Newtech Makina, which was established just before the pandemic period, entered a successful period in a short time by overcoming the bad effects of the virus. Although they are new in the sector, they have an enthusiastic working style with their 15 years of experience in the sector. Abdullah Akgöz, CEO of Newtech company, which is a new but experienced company in the sector, shared his thoughts on the sector with us. Talking about their goals and plans, Akgöz stated that they will never compromise their honesty and patience.
You were established just before the pandemic period started. As a new company, how did the pandemic period affect you and what did you do during this period?
As you said, we are a company established just before the pandemic period started. We received our first order just before the pandemic started and found ourselves in the pandemic period. While we were making our first production, we encountered some problems like every company. These processes were quite natural. In addition, we experienced difficulties in raw material supply, price increases and personnel during the pandemic period. Due to the Kovid 19 virus, there were quarantines, loss of workforce and delays in production. Despite a lot of negativity, we got through this period successfully. During the pandemic period, we approached investments with a balance. We have priority needs for now. For this reason, we made investments primarily to solve our shortcomings.

Do you follow the changes in your sector and produce solutions?
We produce products for the mattress industry. This sector is a very dynamic sector and therefore open to innovations. The pandemic era has completely changed the lifestyle of people around the world. People’s shopping preferences varied and e-commerce became popular. In this context, people even started to order their mattresses online. This situation caused mattress manufacturers to change their sales strategies. These changes have caused mattress manufacturers to reduce mattress volumes, regardless of small or large sized mattresses. In particular, manufacturers had to reduce their volume after packing their mattresses. After all these developments, we, as machine manufacturers, paid more attention to the roll packaging machine. We have improved ourselves to find faster and better solutions on this issue.
You said that you adapt to changes and improve yourself to find good solutions. So what can you say about innovative products? What kind of R&D process are you in?
We are aware that innovation has a great importance today. We believe that companies that are not open to innovation will not be able to live in the sector. As a company, we are in two types of R&D processes in this context. Our first plan is to innovate the locomotive machines currently used in the sector to make them faster, more effective and efficient. Our second plan is to follow the needs of the sector closely and to work on new situations.
How do you ensure your raw material supply?
Especially since we are in a pandemic period, we usually try to purchase raw materials from our domestic suppliers. We do not plan to import during the pandemic period.

As a company established just before the pandemic period, how did your import plans go? Do you think you have reached your export targets in this process?
We are a company established during the pandemic period. Naturally, we experienced various difficulties during this period. Although we had difficulties in this period, I can say that we reached our targets in terms of export. During the pandemic period, we exported to 8 different countries. 95% of our sales are made up of exports.
Although you are a new company, you continue your way confidently. I wonder what kind of goals you have.
Yes, we are a new company in the industry. We entered the sector with great enthusiasm. I think we could have gone further if we had not been established during the pandemic period. Nevertheless, we continue on our way confidently as you said. We still have a long way to go. We plan everything and continue our work consciously. We are new in the sector, but we have 15 years of experience in the sector. With our experience and knowledge, we want to progress in the sector step by step and make our brand one of the best in the world.
