Sardes Textile works hard to keep up with advanced technology to manufacture, antibacterial bed textile with protecting textile surfaces. General Manager of Sardes Textile, Ercan Arslan said the textile has a significant cozy role on bed production and answered our questions;

First of all can you tell us about your company and your commercial activities?

Sardes Textile & Chemistry is active in textile chemicals and textile printing chemicals in Turkey since 2003. We are distributor of Devan Chemicals N.V. based in Denmark. We might say that Belgium is a very old and important home textile producer and our products are preferable in bed textile industry. Antibacterial, anti-mite, anti-mold: AEGIS, halogen free flame retardant Eco-flam, temperature-regulating feature based on encapsulated Phase Changing Materials (PCM): Thermic™ are some of our products.

Can you inform us about your productive facilities and the capacity of production?

Our manufacturing facilities are located in Devan Chemicals Ronse Belgium. We import them. Sardes Textile is located in İzmir and we also have a sales office in İstanbul.

What is the position of Turkey as a bed textile manufacturer?

Turkey is one of the leading bed textile manufacturers globally. It’s possible to find every kind of bed textile in Turkey. Bed textile gives the expected properties to the bed, that’s the reason. In Europe there are many improvements in mattress foam, spring systems and box spring along with bed textile.

R&D projects focusing on bed textile are leading the bed industry. What are the new techniques on bed textile manufacturing?

It is true that R&D projects focusing on bed textile are leading the bed industry. Since bed textile enhances the visual appearance and protects the bed, this case is comprehensible. But that is not true that the bed textile gives all the comfort expected from entire bed. Volume of the bed, over synthetic materials containment, ineffaceability causes mold and mites to live and colonize in the bed rapidly. Therefore usage of AEGIS antimicrobial in bed is very important. Besides, the bed; which is one of high volume textile products at home, needs to be finished with Flame Retardant products: Eco-flam™. Beyond these, there are many applications to increase the comfort of the bed. Another popular innovative application is THERMIC® is a patented temperature regulation technology that keeps your body longer in a comfortable temperature. THERMIC® absorbs energy (heat) when the environment or body temperature goes up, storing this energy temporarily, and release the energy as heat when the temperature cools down. Materials which change physical state at a specific temperatures are known as Phase Change Materials (PCM). Water is a common example of a PCM and changes from ice to water at 0°C. PCM’s change from solid to liquid when temperature increase. At this point they absorb and store energy (heat). Conversely, as temperatures decrease energy is released as the PCM goes back to solid form.

Which countries do you export to?

In addition to Europe and Turkey, we, as Devan Chemicals sell to the USA, China, India, Indonesia and Pakistan. In most of these countries we have offices or distributors.
