80 Okan Metal, a respectful spring manufacturer

Located in Kayseri, Turkey, Okan Metal is a respectful company active in steel spring and Bondex foam. We asked Mehmet Kahraman about their story:

Would you introduce us yourself?
I am chairman and partner of Okan Metal which is active since 1996. I am a graduate of Chemical Department of Balikesir University and I am a chemist. I am from Kayseri, married with two children.

Would you inform us about Okan Metal since its foundation?
Okan Metal was established in 1996 to supply springs for the sofa and bedding industries. It added Bondex foam (rebounded) on its product group in 1999 thereby addressing a big area of the sector. In 2006 we improved our capacity with new investments and continued our operations in Kayseri Organized Industrial Zone. We renewed our machine park in 2010 and became one of the most leading companies of Turkey in Bondex foam production. We have always gave first priority on quality.

Which mattress materials are you manufacturing and/or representing as a dealer?
As I stated above we are a leading company in the supply of Bondex foam, standard, fire group and consumables of mattress production (such as nylon, adhesives, fabric, ect.) in Kayseri. We are one of the few dealers of Kayseri Form Sunger (Foam) in Turkey in their fire group. Our company is a solution partner of Boycelik since its establishment. We also serve Universal Adhesives Company with mattress production adhesive group.

Do you have innovative products which differentiates you from your competitors positively?
We have Bondex foam production from 50 to 250 densities, from 6 mm to any thickness required. We have the ability especially to produce 100 density and over foams up to 6 mm thin with zero
problem. Our products are controlled by our Quality & Assurance personnel and classified with no concession at all.

Do you have an R&D department? If yes, how does it function?
It is unthinkable to have such a plant without an R&D department. Our team follow important fairs and publications to keep up with all new developments and trends in order to add new and
innovative products and to improve existing ones.

Which countries do you export and how is your domestic sales?
Our products are going to many countries indirectly. We have a respectful share in the domestic market.

What about your production, export and domestic sale capacities?
We have a Bondex foam production capacity of 5 ton/day. We export 30% of these products and sell the balance in domestic market.

Will you inform us about your new investments?
Investments have to be continuous. As is known it is impossible to survive without investing in the industrial manufacturing sectors.

Can you comment on the current future positions of the Turkish mattress industry?
We are continuing our investments in the industry because we see the positive and promising future in the industry. It is on the right way.
